FAQs

Focus on Trust and Compliance

1. Our Mitra Philosophy and Expertise

What does Mitra mean, and what is your core mission?

Mitra is a Sanskrit word meaning Friend, Companion, or Ally. Our mission is to serve as your knowledgeable ally on your path to wellness. We provide authentically formulated Ayurvedic supplements and verified expertise to support your health journey, never to replace your primary medical care.

What is the background of your Ayurvedic practitioners?

Our advisory team is led by a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner who holds the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree from a recognized university. The BAMS is a 5.5-year university program covering traditional Ayurvedic principles, modern physiology, and clinical practice. This robust, verified background ensures that our products and guidance are rooted in authentic, high-level scientific rigor.

Is Ayurveda meant to replace modern medicine or my primary doctor?

No. Ayurveda is a Science of Life focused on preventive care, lifestyle optimization, and supporting the body's natural state of balance. We are firm in our guidance: always consult your primary care physician or specialist for any medical conditions, diagnoses, or treatments. Our role is to provide safe, high-quality supplements that companion your existing healthcare plan.

2. Quality, Sourcing, and Sustainability

What certifications and standards do your manufacturing facilities meet?

All Mitra Ayurveda supplements are manufactured in the United States in facilities that are strictly compliant with the FDA's Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP). This is the highest standard in the supplement industry, ensuring consistent quality, identity, purity, and strength of our products.

How do you guarantee the purity and safety of your herbs?

We utilize a Triple-Check Quality System:

1. Sourcing Verification:
We prioritize herbs that are Organic, Non-GMO, and sustainably harvested.

2. Raw Material Testing:
Every single batch of raw botanical material is quarantined and tested for
identity verification (ensuring it is the correct plant species).

Third-Party Contaminant Screening: After encapsulation, finished products are sent to an independent, accredited laboratory to be rigorously tested for microbial contaminants, pesticides, and the presence of heavy metals (including Lead, Mercury, Arsenic, and Cadmium) to ensure levels are far below FDA and Prop 65 safety limits.

Are your products vegan/vegetarian and gluten-free?

Yes. We are committed to inclusivity and purity. All of our supplements are 100% vegetarian, and many are vegan. We exclusively use plant-based capsules. We rigorously test all batches to ensure they are gluten-free and free from common allergens like soy and dairy.

3. Compliance, Safety, and Usage

What is the legal distinction between your supplements and an FDA-approved drug?

This is a crucial distinction required by law. Drugs are approved by the FDA to treat, cure, or prevent diseases. Dietary supplements, like Mitra Ayurveda's, are regulated by the FDA under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA). They are intended only to support the structure and function of the body (e.g., "supports healthy liver function" or "promotes mental clarity"). We adhere strictly to this law and do not make any drug-like claims.

Can I take these supplements if I am on prescription medication?

Some herbs can interact with prescription medications. If you are taking any drugs, have a pre-existing medical condition, are pregnant, or are nursing, you must consult with your prescribing physician or a qualified healthcare professional before beginning any new supplement regimen.

How long will it take to see results?

Ayurveda is a holistic system focused on gradual, lasting balance, not quick fixes. As your Mitra, we encourage patience. While some effects (like improved digestion) may be noticeable quickly, profound benefits that result from deep systemic balance often take 4 to 12 weeks of consistent use combined with appropriate diet and lifestyle changes.
